3rd International Biennial of Pastel d´Opale, on Boulogne sur Mer, France
The world of the pastel painting is fantastic!
A Pastel Biennial was recently held in France. The 3rd International Biennial Pastel d’Opale, in Boulogne Sur Mer. A unique opportunity to watch up close many artworks of various Pastel painters and Pastel amateurs from around the world.
Since the organization of the Biennial asked to maintain discretion about the selected artists and their works until the opening of the event, I could not write before on this subject on my personal blog
In a large showroom prepared for the occasion, 229 works from 86 selected artists were gathered. There were several pastel artworks made by artists from several countries. Such as France, Spain, Turkey, Germany, Mexico, Canada, Greece and, as the guest of honor, one pastelist from Hong Kong.
Although I could not photograph everything, I found time to obtain a few representative images of the event so I could share them with you on this blog.
The organizers of the Biennial were great! Especially relevant their achievement in getting a very warm and friendly atmosphere. Françoise Guillaume, president of the Association Pastel d´Opale, Jean-Pierre Guillaume and all the team and collaborators, from the reception to the vernissage, accomplished a memorable event. Most of all a great Pastel selection and a wonderful exhibition in a warm atmosphere.
Among the works, many “paissages”, nature paintings and “nature morte”. Also interesting landscapes, and not so many portraits as I expected… It was definitely a great experience! Something to repeat in the future and that I recommend to everybody. The other amazing gift was, undoubtedly, the trip itself…! But this is the second post.
