It’s been a long time since I posted on my blog for the last time…
I had a busy summer, working on my orders and cooperating for the development of the first soft pastel handmade brand, in Spain. The Mamut pastels.
This makes me proud and happy because the pastels are really special and already warmly welcomed by pastel societies around the world!
I’ll be writing about Mamut pastels very soon, but today I wanted to share one of my latest oil paintings and post some photos I took during the process.
This is the second time I have painted a child sitting on this same sofa! The grey of its fabric is very rich and reflects light in many shades of colours. The boy is a wonderful, thoughtful and intelligent child who completely absorbed my attention for weeks.
I wanted to “build” all the paintings based on his deep look.
I worked alla prima, using an old recipe for slow drying medium based on Venice turpentine, refined linseed oil and stand oil. It was going fast, but then I noticed, it needed to rest …I left it for some time and later reworked the entire painting again until I felt that the regard of the child was in harmony with everything around him, but also dominant…
I´m really grateful to his parents for the opportunity they gave me to paint his portrait!
