It is not easy to watch several original pieces of Ramon Casas, Catalan painter from XIX century, together… However, it is rarer to assist to a gallery where all the works, almost 35, of this great painter are for sale!
There is an exhibition of this great painter in the Gothsland Gallery, in Barcelona, until the third of February. Moreover, I could not miss it! I love this painter!!

Ramón Casas (1866-1932) was one of the best painters of modernism, and in addition, a very prolific one. Coming from a wealthy family, he started drawing early, at 15 years old. He had the opportunity to travel to Paris very soon, and to study in Carolus Duran’s workshop. In 1883 he exhibited in the “Salon des Champs de Mars”, Paris, where he lived several seasons.

“Study for a portrait of a woman”, Ramon Casas Exhibition, Barcelona, 2019
He portrayed the traditional society of his time and its evolution. Especially his muse, lover and wife, Julia Peraire, whom he portrayed repeatedly. In which he saw this yearning for modernity…

The owner of Gothsland Gallery explained to me that he took 3 years to accomplish this exhibition and get all the works together.

Graciela gracias por acercarnos y descubrir este importante artista, hasta ahora para mí desconocido. Estoy deseando ver un nuevo vídeo en YouTube, de los magníficos retratos que haces. Muchas gracias, hasta pronto!!
Fabulous.
This post makes me want to study art- not just to improve the crafting of art- but to broaden my perspectives, to feel my heart beat more richly and passionately, and to connect with others.
There is much to more to becoming an artist than learning the tools and strokes of a painting.
Thank you for inspiring and mentoring, Graciela.
